Mr. Thomas Gorse, M.Ed.
Greetings! This is my 14th year Teaching at PHS. My prior careers included Network Design & Engineering, IT Management, Web Design and Marketing, Internet Start-ups and Accounting. Each of these roles gave me a diverse foundation that helps me teach classes that inspire students to expand their interest in "IT" and Computer Science.
I have taught a broad range of CTE classes including A+ Computer & Network+ Certifications, Business Multimedia, Web Design, Principles of IT, Computer Programming, Microsoft Office (BIM), Entrepreneurship, Business Law, Pre-AP Computer Science and AP Computer Science.
In both 2015 and 2016 I was chosen to receive grants from the PISD Education Foundation to be used to acquire Android Tablets for my Pre-AP Comp Sci classes in which we design and build Android Apps using App Inventor. Students love seeing their Apps live on the Tablets! Watch the video about Android Tablets in the classroom!
I also sponsor the Computer Science Club for PHS. This is a student led club. Members are challenged to expand their programming skills and will have the opportunity to compete at UIL Events.
In the 2019-20 school year I will be teaching a diverse set of students and classes. This year's line-up includes MONEY MATTERS, Pre-AP Computer Science and AP Computer Science.
